Why homeowners switch
What tankless gets you
Endless hot water
A tankless unit heats water as it flows, so it never runs out mid-shower — even with back-to-back use.
Frees up space
No 40–60 gallon tank taking up the corner. A wall-mounted unit reclaims floor space in the utility room.
Lower standby loss
It only fires when you open a tap, so you're not paying to keep a tank hot 24/7. That shows up on the gas bill.
Longer lifespan
Tankless units typically last longer than tanks with regular maintenance — and there's no tank to rust out and flood.
Tankless vs. tank
Which is right for your home?
Tankless (on-demand)
- Endless hot water — never runs out
- Frees up floor space (wall-mounted)
- Lower standby energy loss
- Longer typical lifespan
- Higher up-front cost; may need gas/venting upgrades
Tank (storage)
- Lower up-front cost, simpler install
- Proven, easy to service
- Covers a sudden burst of demand
- Can run out during heavy use
- Takes floor space; standby heat loss; can leak with age
What affects the price
What moves the cost of a tankless install
Every home is different, so we quote in writing after we see yours — no guesswork numbers online. Here's what actually moves the price.
Gas line & venting
Tankless units fire harder than a tank and often need a larger gas line and dedicated stainless venting — the biggest variable in the install.
Flow rate (sizing)
Sized by how many hot taps run at once, not by household size alone. A bigger home with two showers needs more capacity.
Electrical & condensate
High-efficiency condensing models need a power outlet and a condensate drain nearby.
Switching from a tank
Removing the old tank and re-routing the water and gas connections adds labour vs. a like-for-like swap.

Tankless water heater FAQs
How much does tankless water heater installation cost?
It depends mostly on your gas line, venting, and whether you're switching from a tank — those drive the labour. We don't post guesswork numbers; we look at your setup and give a written, all-in price before any work, free of charge.
Will a tankless heater really never run out of hot water?
Right — it heats water on demand, so it won't run out the way a tank does. The key is sizing it for how many hot taps you'd run at the same time, which we do during the estimate.
Is tankless worth it over a regular tank?
If you value endless hot water, want the floor space back, or run out often, yes. A tank is cheaper up front and simpler. We'll lay out both honestly so you can decide — no pressure.
Do you handle the gas and venting?
Yes. Our TSSA-licensed gas technicians size and run the gas line, install the stainless venting, and make the water connections to code — that's the part that has to be done right.
How long does a tankless unit last?
With regular maintenance (a periodic descale, especially in hard-water areas) a tankless unit often outlasts a tank — and there's no tank to corrode and leak.
