Ductless Mini-Splits, made simple
A ductless mini-split is a heat pump that heats and cools a room directly — no ductwork required. A small outdoor unit connects to one or more indoor heads through a thin line set in the wall.

What size do I need?
Sizing your ductless mini-splits the right way
A mini-split is sized room by room, not by whole-home square footage. The ballpark above is a starting point — each head is matched to its space, sun exposure, and how the room is used, so it heats and cools without short-cycling.
Measured in BTUs per hour, per zone
Each head is sized to its room — roughly one ton (12,000 BTU) per 500–600 square feet
A rule of thumb gets you in the ballpark — but an oversized system short-cycles: it blasts on, shuts off, and wastes energy while heating or cooling unevenly. The right size comes from a proper load calculation, not a square-footage formula.

Yes. A mini-split is a heat pump — it cools in summer and heats in winter. Cold-climate models are built to keep heating through Ontario winters.
How many indoor heads can one system run?
A single outdoor unit can feed one head or several, each zoned independently. We size the system to your rooms and how you use them.
Do mini-splits qualify for rebates?
