How it works

Indoor Air Quality, made simple

Indoor air quality equipment works alongside your heating and cooling to keep the air in a tightly-built modern home fresh, clean, and comfortable.

  1. 01

    Ventilate

An HRV or ERV swaps stale indoor air for fresh outdoor air without throwing your heat out the window.

  2. 02

    Filter

A high-efficiency filter captures dust, pollen, and fine particles as air circulates through the system.

  3. 03

    Balance

A humidifier adds moisture in our dry winters, while UV lights and purifiers knock down germs and odours.

What size do I need?

Sizing your indoor air quality the right way

IAQ equipment is sized by airflow (CFM) and your home's volume — a tight, well-sealed house needs more deliberate fresh-air exchange than a draftier older one.

Measured in CFM (airflow)

Ventilation is sized to your home's volume and how many air changes it needs

A rule of thumb gets you in the ballpark — but an oversized system short-cycles: it blasts on, shuts off, and wastes energy while heating or cooling unevenly. The right size comes from a proper load calculation, not a square-footage formula.

What we measure

  • Square footage, layout, and ceiling height
  • Insulation and how well the home is sealed
  • Windows — size, number, and which way they face
  • Our climate — cold winters and humid summers

We confirm the exact size during a free in-home assessment — so you get a system that fits your home, not a guess.

Common problems we solve

Indoor Air Quality issues we fix

Dry winter air

Static, cracked skin, and dry throats. A whole-home humidifier balances it without room units.

Dust and allergens

If you're dusting constantly, media or HEPA filtration removes far more than a standard filter.

Stuffy, stale air

Tight modern homes trap stale air. An HRV/ERV brings in fresh air without wasting heat.

Humidity and condensation

Window condensation or a clammy basement points to humidity control that needs attention.

Questions, answered

Indoor Air Quality FAQs

What actually improves indoor air?

It depends on the problem — humidifiers for dry air, HRV/ERV for ventilation, and media or HEPA filtration for dust and allergens. We assess first.

Do these work with my existing furnace?

Most IAQ equipment integrates with your existing ducting and furnace blower. We confirm compatibility before installing.

Will an HRV make my home colder?

No — an HRV transfers heat from outgoing air to incoming fresh air, so you ventilate without losing warmth.

How often do filters need changing?

Depends on the filter and your home. We'll set a schedule that keeps airflow and air quality where they should be.
