Heat with oil, propane, or electric?
Non-gas homes usually qualify for the largest heat-pump rebates — roughly $1,250 per ton versus about $500 per ton on a gas-heated home. If you're on oil, propane, or baseboard electric, a heat pump can pay back faster than you'd think.
Straight talk: standard gas furnaces and standard air conditioners are notrebated under the current program — incentives favour heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters. We'll tell you upfront whether your upgrade qualifies, never the other way around.

What heat pump rebate can I get in Ontario in 2026?
Through the Home Renovation Savings (HRS) program, a qualifying cold-climate air-source heat pump can get up to $7,500, and a ground-source (geothermal) system up to $12,000. The exact amount depends on your home and how it's currently heated — we confirm your number at the quote.
Do gas furnaces and air conditioners qualify for rebates?
Generally no — current Ontario rebates favour heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters, not standard gas furnaces or standard air conditioners. We'll tell you honestly whether your upgrade qualifies before you commit.
Why do some homes get a bigger heat pump rebate?
The rebate is sized partly by how your home is heated now. Homes on oil, propane, or electric heat typically qualify for more per ton than gas-heated homes — so non-gas and rural homes often see the largest heat-pump rebates.
What about the old Greener Homes and HER+ rebates?
Those have ended — the Canada Greener Homes Grant closed to new applicants and Enbridge's HER+ folded into the new Home Renovation Savings program. HRS is the live program for 2026. (A separate federal oil-to-heat-pump program, OHPA, is closing in 2026 — ask us if you heat with oil.)
